November 2007 JCN Meeting Report
We just had the November meeting of Japan Cat Network in Kyoto. And a few comments that people here may be interested in…
I brought a trap to the meeting to demonstrate, and talk about some of the particulars of cat-catching, things to be careful of and how to take care of a cat in a trap.
We received interest from some Nagoya area people. If there were a couple more, and we could come up with a date, I wouldn’t mind going there on a weekend, with a trap and talking about TNR, and related issues.
As many people here know, our focus is helping people who are helping cats - in particular in starting “trap - neuter - return” programs.
Would love to help anyone on the group here with any questions about all of that kind of stuff.
In order to further our trap lending program we would like to purchase 6 more traps before spring. We prefer a type of trap that can be purchased in the US or UK, which springs when the animal puts pressure on a step…

…as opposed to a type more commonly found in Japan, which springs from pulling down on a baited hook.
If anyone is going to the US or UK, we would like to beg the favor of asking you to bring one back for us, which we would purchase and send to your address. That would save us the tremendous shipping cost. Furthermore, since traps are basically empty boxes, you could use the trap as a suitcase, and bring back your extra stuff.
If you are not one of the lucky people taking a trip abroad, and instead stacking up piles of cash waiting for just the right cause, then you could assist us raising a little more money to bring the spring season’s hope of 6 more traps a little easier for us to get our hands on.
And if you are someone who never heard of TNR, or wondering why we would want to trap cats to begin with, then fire away.
The December JCN meeting will be on Sunday, December 16, 2007 from 1pm to 2:30pm at the Starbucks across from Kyoto Station. Hope to see you there!
