Girl Scouts to the Rescue!

The Brownies and Girl Scouts at a Tokyo area military base decided to get involved with community volunteer work by helping out an animal rescue group. They very kindly chose to help our kitties! These amazing girls donated part of their troupe’s savings and made cute little entertaining cats toys. They also gathered a huge amount of cat food and other great supplies donated by other families on the base. This amounted to 89 kilograms of dry food (nearly 200 pounds!), 114 cans/packets of wet food, several large boxes of toys/blankets/miscellaneous supplies, and 6 big bags of cat litter. Michael, a favorite of our shelter’s younger visitors, came out to meet his kind benefactors. We had a great time playing and talking together about how we can all be responsible caregivers for the animals in and around our lives. See more pictures from the recent Tokyo trip here.
