Hi, I am interested in most likely adopting a cat or fostering 1 or 2. I live in the Funabashi area. I have had a cat before and also 2 dogs when I was in the States. I have lived in Japan for 11 years now and am finally settling down. I read your rules and guidelines and have no problem with them. If there is any other information you thin would be important just let me know. I would also like to know if you have any information about declawing? My pets have always been strictly indoor pets and for the safety of my dogs and my previous girlfriends children (not to mention my furniture) I had my previous cat declawed. It doesn’t see popular here. Can you give me any advice. I hope to hear from you soon. Have a great day. Jon Nelson
Hi. You can email us directly about adoption As for declawing, we have decided to follow the lead of the Humane Society, and other groups, in asking adopters not to declaw. You might be surprised to hear about some of the possible ill effects. Instead we prefer to recommend regular nail trimming, use of scratching boards and towers, and behavioral training. Be glad to talk to you more about it. thanks, David
Japan Cat Network is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to trap, neuter and return (TNR) as a means of helping Japan’s stray and abandoned cat population. We are also committed to no-kill sheltering. (>>Learn more)
