Iris and Lilly

These two beauties may look like they haven’t a care in the world, but they were rescued from a near tragic death. David interrupted a woman, who was preparing to throw them into the river. He just happened to be passing by, on his bicycle, and asked the woman to hand the sack of kittens over to him. He brought the two girls, another sister and two brothers back to the shelter, but one of the brothers did not survive the terrible experience. It’s amazing that David could get them back to the shelter without a carrier, at all, since the kittens were actually feral. Once here we began to work on the socialization process. We talked softly to them, reaching in to touch them carefully, and playing with toys. Now these two girls have become somewhat friendly. Lilly is talkative, asking to be touched, but edging away when a hand is reached out. These two prefer to make the first approach, and when guests sit down on one of the garden benches, they may find a shy white cat or two, rubbing happily against their feet.
