Caught up in the usual rush between classes and cats, though classes more time consuming this week, due to Halloween party planning for children’s classes. The kids do love their Halloween parties, and it’s a chance to reward them for working so hard on their English studies throughout the year. I’m putting on cat ears and face paint this year, as there wasn’t time to come up with anything new for a costume. First parties a big hit on Saturday and Monday…Now gearing up for 6 more or so throughout this week. A few pics on the October photo page…
We had a new abandonment in front of the shelter…Maybe 6 weeks old at the time, but emaciated, so hard to tell. We don’t think he was outside too long, since he’s a noisy one, so unknown why we found him in such bad shape. Guess whatever previous circumstances were, they were not good. David used the trap to catch him, and Oliver was in an absolute panic for around 24 hours, eating/crying constantly. Then Wednesday night he started vomiting with no eating or drinking…our thoughts turned to Parvo, so we gave him the last of our Tamiflu. He tested negative for Parvo the following day at the vet, and had no temp. The vet thought maybe his digestive system was just overwhelmed. He got a drip and meds for a few days, with syringe feeding. Finally started eating again after that, but have to admit it was really stressful to look into the abyss again. He seems on the road to recovery now, and though noisy, he’s a very sweet little thing. I can’t stop taking photos of him! We had planned to transfer him to foster care right away, but had to hold off until we knew if he had a contagious disease or not. If he continues to do well from here, we’ll send him out into foster care soon, with Shima.
Great picture of Fantasia! I am so happy for her!
I’m so glad he is feeling much better and I am glad he didn’t have that dreaded illness!
Oliver seems to have the biggest ears on his tiny little face!

What an eater little Oliver has become…went to the vet today and he weighs nearly double what he did last time. He was as low as 850 grams at one point but is now up to 1.4 kilograms. He still goes into a panic when he can’t find us for some reason, crying loudly, but he’s become playful and is acting more and more like a happy kitten!
Fantastic news for the night is that we found a foster placement for the newbie coming in tomorrow!! Will post more info soon.
