Cats and kittens can escape from cardboard boxes during transport, and if they escape into an unknown area, it can be very hard to find them. This is a cheap way to make a secure carrier....

1. Buy two baskets of the same size at the 100 yen store.

2. Buy cable ties (keisoku bando--have at the 100 yen store).

 3. Thread band through the basket holes.

 4. Attach 2 to one side.

5. Put newspaper in the bottom.

6. Put cat inside.

7. Attach two bands to other side.

8. Always keep scissors handy to open.

Another style....

1. Buy two soft baskets of the same size at the 100 yen store.

2. Buy plastic lock ties (keisoku bando) at the 100 yen store.

3.  Put newspaper in the bottom of one basket.

4. Attach the top of one basket to the top of the other, overlapping, with lock ties.

5. Put the cat inside.

6. Attach the two baskets along the other side, keeping scissors handy to open.

*note: You may need to attach either ends of the basket, as well as the sides, if there are gaps. Bungee cords may also work, depending on the basket type. If you already have a basket, buying a barbecue grate at the 100 yen store, and attaching that as a lid may work, as well. In a pinch, a simple net washing machine bag with a zipper closure can be a way to secure a cat for transport. But, a determined kitty may still try to make a getaway, and you'd be surprised how quickly they can move, even while inside the net.
