Euthanasia Policy

Japan Cat Network is a "No Kill" program.
Whether sheltering, doing TNR (trap neuter return), or offering help to others,
we don't advise to or particpate in euthanizing healthy animals.
Our policy is to try to save animals which are injured, sick or traumitized.
Quality of Life is the guiding principle.
If it has been determined that the cat being treated can not recover adequately and continues
to be in an unreasonable amount of pain, we would consider having the cat euthanized at our vet by injection.

Having to consider euthanizing is always very difficult. We empathize with anyone faced with
such a difficult decision and would be glad to offer our help to anyone faced with that decision.

In practice, we have euthanized one cat in 2010. That cat been struck with a viral disease
called panleukepenia,  and had no hope of recovery.
