    chobivet

Heard that Chobi was a little better this morning, but is still losing everything she eats shortly after she eats it. The vet remains stumped–we did try probiotics last week, with minimal short term improvement. Anyway, they have her on a regular drip and other treatments…I know that she would be happier back here, but we just can’t meet her serious medical needs. I brought one of her soft blankets, that she loves so much, to make her feel a little more comfortable. The vet said that she had a lot of energy this morning and sent the above photo! He’s a nice guy, and handled her very gently. We had to use an emergency clinic, since our regular clinic was closed, so now trying to balance the cost with the advisability of moving her.

No classes today, so big cleaning of the enclosures this morning, while David went off to check on the Nara TNR project. We’re having some trouble ascertaining if the cats there are actually continuing to get regular food, after their operations. I took breaks in front of the computer, finally getting pictures of almost all of the shelter cats up on the rescue list, via links. Also worked on our new system to create cards for each cat in the shelter–hoping this will make it easier to monitor health problems. Went out to buy stuff to make a new cat-proof screen for the kitten room. They’ve trashed the usual kind, and the materials are pricey, but I really want to be able to let some fresh air in. I’ve built a couple of these for two other windows in the shelter, in other areas, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Carrying the long pieces of wood and stainless screen back on my bicycle was probably the most difficult part! Picked up a few rag rugs at the dollar store, while I was out, to liven up the kitten enclosure, and provide some softer perches. The nice thing about the rag rugs is that there are convenient holes to thread plastic lock ties through, so I can attach them to the perches, keeping them from falling in heaps on the floor. The recent nice weather has made the outdoor perches very popular, in the enclosures, so everyone was thrilled with the improvement.

One Responseso far.

Awww…poor little Chobi…I sure pray that she pulls through. It must be hard not knowing how to help her!
My 12 year old cat loves my rag rug by the front door. He loves to make a mess of it, actually. He puts toys on it or under it and then goes nuts. Its so cute and funny at the same time. :)
