The Three Stooges stayed at a clinic in Kyoto over the weekend to be treated for their Calici Virus with interferon. We found a much more reasonable price, so we were able to do it, and the kittens have come back in great shape. Curly has already found a home and will be going there next Saturday, before our fund raising event. The kitten room is starting to empty out, with 2 whole cages free. However, there are still the 5 newbies staying at the clinic. I have to admit to avoiding the topic of when they’ll be coming back to the shelter–I know it’s not fair to the vet’s wife/assistant, who offered to care for them for the first few days, but I’m a little desperate to put off the inevitable drain. David and I are at a low point, sleep wise–our schedule has already been so tight this last week, that we never seem able to get more than 5 hours a night. It’s just not enough to get through our busy days, which not only involve a lot of animal care (65 cats plus 19 kittens), but also teaching English classes. Today one of my 6 year old students said that the letter after “K” was “eleven” and it took me a few seconds to think, wait a minute…that’s not right! I’m a walking experiment in sleep deprivation. Had to go to the home center to buy cat food tonight, as the sale on the higher quality food we need for kittens, is over tomorrow. I opted to spring for the $3 to have it delivered to our door, which was a nice change from the wheely cart! Hopefully will have a chance to sleep in tomorrow.
